Gazebo is a new conceptual structure developed by the artist Tone Nyarkoh.

Originally a development platform and publishing structure for her own work it is also a catalyst, designed to make things happen for professional artists on a local, national and international stage.

As an art publishing project it has been designed to combat the problems facing artists such as the lack of actual spaces and general outlets and opportunities.

Gazebo came about after a series of seminars instigated by the MidWest artists agency under the heading of

'intellectual property', that was particularly looking at lack of properties for artists here in the West Midlands .

Whilst attempting to address some of the specific problems that face many artists in the West Midlands (such as lack of suitable studio and exhibition space and restrictive funding structures) Tone came up with the idea for a mobile, non-fixed conceptual space which would actively promote and uphold the ideals of artistic freedom, integrity and organisational independence.

Whilst the physical structure of the original Gazebo (purchased in 2007)

is still in existence and available for further utilisation and/or exhibition, Gazebo's real potential lies in its conceptual nature as a flux-space.

Mobile, adaptable and non-fixed Gazebo remains key to the definition and publishing of artists intellectual property.

"True to its original function as a thinkspace for myself and other artists Gazebo remains laden with virtually limitless possibilities."
